With all this yip yap about eating everything “hormone injected free” or “grown naturally”, there seems to be a problem. You see, I live in Flatbush, Brooklyn ( I’m in the house! lol) so the only natural thing I get is probably from the fruit stands around my hood.
So, what’s a single mom like me supposed to do? For starters, I go to Pathmark, Waldbaums and if I’m in L.I by my familiy, I’ll stop by a Stop ‘n Shop. These supermarkets have “naturally grown chicken” and some other “natural” items ( so they say) But why can’t I get more selections? Is there a reason why these so-called supermarkets, oh excuse me, “Natural and Organic groceries”( that’s what’s on their site) can’t make it to my hood? Is it because there’s a chinese restaurant, liquor store, regular grocery story (What’s doin’ all my Papis and Habibs!) on every corner?
I don’t know about you guys – but I’m started to feel like these companies only target “certain neighborhood” if you get what I’m saying. I mean what’s the problem? Majority of people in the hood ( and outskirts, let’s not get it TWISTED) have food stamps and I know Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s accept food stamps, so what is the hold up?
Oh, I get it, it must be that these “natural” supermarkets feel that neighborhoods like mine don’t and won’t eat “natural foods”. Well, I’m asking for them to give us a try. I can even tell them where to put one ( I’ve seen plenty of lots and buildings for sale).
So WHOLE FOODS AND TRADER JOES, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR! (In my Jay Z voice)
Oh yeah, I also want to make sure my kids, who are 6 and 5, don’t look like their 16 and 15 when they turn 11 and 10. Get it?
